This University is part of the Faculté des Sciences de l’Université de Paris with Pierre and Marie Curie. In 1994 the University adopted its current name, Diderot. The actual site of the university is full of significant industrial heritage; for 75 years, hundreds of workers of the Grands Moulins de Paris produced tons of flour. Today, the massive milling and the flour Hall house are two main buildings of the University.
The University is famous for its teaching in Science, especially in Mathematics. Indeed, the Laboratoire de Probabilités et Modèles Aléatoires (Laboratory of Probability and Random Models), which is one of the centers of research of Paris Diderot University, has discovered many fundamental results of the theory of Probability.
But the University is also a place for multidisciplinary education: currently, there are 2300 educators and researchers and 26,000 students studying humanities, science, and medicine.
