Located in Coral Gables, UM is just 7 miles from downtown Miami and has an active campus life environment with facilities such as cinema, observatory, concert hall, arboretum, performing arts center, museum and art galleries. In addition, the university fields fifteen Division-1 sports teams, including the Hurricanes football team.
All international students are required to enroll in the University sponsored health insurance program.
The annual premium for this coverage is added to each student's fees and covers medical, surgical, and hospital insurance for major illnesses, accidents, surgery, psychiatric emergencies, and off-campus emergency room care. In order to obtain a student visa, exchange students studying at the University of Miami must provide a bank statement showing a minimum of $11,250 for one semester of study or $22,500 for an academic year.
