 The University of Paris-Sud (30 000 students, 2 950 teachers-researchers and 1 300 engineers, administrative and technical staff) located on several sites in the SW area of Paris.
Transport to and from Paris (20 miles) is easy and frequent. Teaching and research activities concern all scientific fields, Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Economics and Management. The scientific campus is linked into a network of "Grandes Ecoles" (Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité...) and research institution (CNRS, CEA, INSERM...).
The teachers-researchers are in 142 laboratories. Most of these are subsidized by state agencies (CNRS, INSERM, INRA...), the European Commission and industrial firms. They maintain active collaborations with foreign laboratories throughout the world.
The University Paris-Sud includes: 4 Faculties (Law, Economics and Management; Medicine; Pharmacy; Sciences) and 3 Institutes of Technology (Business Management; Mechanical and Electronics Engineering; Chemistry, Computer Sciences and Physical Measures).
