 The University of Evry - Val d'Essonne is one of the four new universities founded in the Paris area in 1991. Located in a booming and bustling place, the institution offers general multi-subject and professional courses in sciences and technology, law, economics, management and humanities and sociology among others. Today with 8,800 students, more than 500 teachers, researchers, technicians, employees and service staff, the university is a center of excellence. The official establishment of Genepole next to the university as a national and European research pole which is dedicated to genomes and their applications allows new development and new perspectives. Structures The University houses four teaching and research units (UFR) and a technological institute (IUT). Those different structures account for the diversity of the undergraduate and graduate programs offered to students with nationality recognized degrees. Four structures compose the University: - a teaching and research unit of fundamental and applied science with Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology departments.
- a unit of Science and Technology with Electrical Engineering and Industrial Data Processing, Mechanical Engineering and Production Engineering.
- a unit of Law and Economics.
- a unit of Social Sciences and Management that includes Sociology (corporations and cities), Economics and Social Administration, Management.
IUT In our university offers lectures in Foreign Languages (English, German, Spanish languages mainly) and computing lectures are mandatory during the first two academic years.
Career oriented courses Many Evry courses have a vocational character and directly lead to actual jobs. They are offered at undergraduate and graduate levels either in the form of initial courses, sandwich courses, within the framework of Evry CFA (apprenticeship training center) or in the form of continuous education for working people.
IUP Institut Universitaire Professionnalisé The IUP offers four years courses using specific teaching methods oriented towards the needs of industry. After completing a standard one year course, the student will take a three year course that will lead him to the "maitrise" and the degree of "ingenieur maître".
Those grades will give access to higher diplomas such as the DRT (Diplôme de Recherche Technologique) or the DESS (Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures Spécialisées) and allow students to have access to various job in industry and services.
