The MICEFA Medical Program has promoted the exchange of medical students in almost all specializations to pursue both clinical and research objectives. The MICEFA enables American medical students to complete some of their clinical electives in one of five prestigious French Schools of Medicine,

Directing them to one of the five Parisian medical universities :

  • Paris VI Faculté de Médecine Pierre et Marie Curie site Pitié-Salpêtrière
  • Paris VI Faculté de Médecine Pierre et Marie Curie site Saint-Antoine
  • Paris VII Denis Diderot site Xavier Bichat
  • Paris VII Denis Diderot site Villemin
  • Paris XI Faculté de Médecine Paris-Sud
  • Paris XII Faculté de Médecine Val de Marne
  • Paris XIII Faculté de Médecine Bobigny Paris-Nord

Our American partners are :

  • Harvard Medical School (including the Harold English Fellowshhip in Cardiology)
  • George Washington University (including Pharmacology for fourth year student)
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • Albert Einstein College of Medicine
  • Columbia University

Generally, the French Medical students go to the United States during the months of July and August to complete two clinical electives. The calendar for the American students who come to Paris for 4-6 weeks is totally flexible, however we find that students tend to come during the spring or summer.

Personalized Services offered to Medical Students :

The MICEFA acts as an intermediary in the placement of incoming American Medical exchange students before and after their arrival :

  • Helping them find the electives of their choice
  • Directing them to the appropriate French Medical School or Hospital
  • Orienting them concerning house, insurance and banking matters
  • Informating them of other day-to-day information they may need during their stay.
