 The University of Paris IV - Sorbonne is, because of its teaching approach, the direct heir of the old and prestigious Sorbonne founded in 1253. Situated in the heart of the student area, the Latin Quarter, Paris 4 is full of history.
Though Greek, Latin, French Literature, History and History of Art are its traditional paths, Paris 4 has never hesitated to turn towards modernity and to adapt itself to the world we live in.
Foreign Literature, Languages and Civilizations, Contemporary History, Communication and Geography are also major elements of its teaching curricula.
 The teaching of Paris 4 is the result of the harmonious mingling of the History of Religions and Foreign Languages, applied or not, such as English, Dutch, or Serbo-Croat. The university also provides courses in Mathematics and Computer Science applied to Human Sciences.
